Rick Janowski has created many formulas relevant to backgammon. In this
article we will look at the Janowski take point formula for money play.
You probably wouldn't find it directly useful over the board, but Snowie does. Janowski's take point formula is useful for converting cubeless estimates of gammon and normal wins to estimates of cubeful equity, hence it helps to understand rollouts from backgammon programs and the gammon price. As we work toward Janowski's take point formula, we will see the
continuous limit model of backgammon and cube liveliness

Douglas, I see that the PDF link goes to MY Mind Sports Olympiad web pages. Nice of you to use it. How about a mention of the hard work put into the file from both the MSO web team and myself? :-)

Doug,
Another interesting article, but unfortunately it's just the type of stuff that tends to screw up my over the board play....that is to say, good stuff, but extremely hard to get any benefit from it in real matches.
Hoping that maybe Part II (and a couple re-reads of Part I) will help crystalize the concepts.
thx, cioa4now
