Many backgammon clubs have a Grand Prix-style points race each year. Players receive points for placing well in the club's tournaments, and can never lose points. The players who accumulate the most points during the year receive recognition and/or prizes. The American Backgammon Tour has a similar race including most major American backgammon tournaments. These are entertaining, and encourage participation.

Someone pays attention ;-)
Regarding the point average of the stronger player, 0.1296 F + 0.0864 (1-F) is not 0.216 + 0.0432 F, thus the computation of the point average of the weaker players is also wrong. However, later in the article the correct values seem to be used.
Interesting stuff again!
