GammonVillage correspondent Achim Mueller files this report from Day 5 at the 2008 World Championships of Backgammon, being held at the Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Achim isn't just reporting on the event, he is also competing for the Championship. Achim has made it to the Final 4. Go for it Achim!
MONTE CARLO, Monaco - On Friday the tournament directors decided to use clocks for the quarterfinals.

I've just seen the final results - hard luck Achim, but what a fantastic effort to get to the semis as well as providing all these reports, videos & ladders. For those of us who couldn't go, it was wonderful to be able to sample the atmosphere from computerland!
