Current Ladder: Championship Flight
GammonVillage correspondent Achim Mueller files this report on today's controversial Championiship match between Mario Sequeira and Lars Trabolt. Additional reports and photos from Saturday's Semi-Final round.
MONTE CARLO, Monaco - On Sunday, Lars Trabolt (DNK), also known as Trabbi, triumphed 25-12 over Mario Sequeira (PRT), becoming the 2008 World Backgammon Champion. Currently ranked #16 on the list of Backgammon Giants, Trabbi is sure to see that ranking improve now.
However, the match was marred by a string of illegal moves.

Congratulations to Lars Trabolt and also to Achim for reaching the semi-final and providing these excellent reports.
I would be interested to learn whether the illegal moves by Mr Sequeira were just random or tended to be to his advantage or indeed disadvantage.
Ray Kershaw
They were mostly on his advantage, but I can't say he made them on purpose. The biggest problem for me was that he fiddled around with the checkers a lot, at least 5 times asked for the correct position. The same happened to Lars a few times.
I'll write a closing report with more deails later.
Ciao
Achim
