Backgammon's doubling cube means you don't have to bear off all of your checkers to win. You don't need to achieve 100% game winning chances to double your opponent out, and doubling while your opponent has a slim take is almost as good as a win. Improving your cubeless game winning chances by 1% should increase your cubeful equity by some amount, but by how much?
