I last reported on the "Vietor Cup" in my 2006 article "Backgammon Adventures across the American Pacific". That year I was fortunate to go 8-0 and capture the cup for the first time. This time things would seem to be going the same way as I won my first five matches.
The structure of the tournament was slightly different as tournament director Patrick Gibson decided, rather than have 6 qualifying matches of Swiss format and a playoff, to do a ten round full Swiss movement and pay 4, 5 or 6 of the 28 players depending on their respective records after those ten matches were completed.
