Below are 5 positions taken from the Doubling Cube Quiz and lecture I gave to participants at the recent Pittsburgh ABT tournament.
If you score 30 or more, you are an Advanced Player; 40 or more, you are an Expert, and if you score a perfect 50, I know you are already on the Backgammon Giants list.
I want to thank Perry Gartner and Matt Cohn-Geier for helping me with the selection of problems and providing insights in the explanations.

Great quiz, Phil! I say that because I luckboxed into getting 50 points. :-)
I'm curious to see the money rollouts for positions 1 and 3. You say that position 3 is a take for money, but by how much? Also, it would be nice to know what your rollout parameters and confidence intervals were.
Tim: I did not keep the money rollouts for 1 and 3, but the 4 ply money cube for No. 3 shows it to be a .389 error to drop.
My rollouts are 1296 and they stop at 99.5 confidence.
good job! i had 4 mistakes in 5 positions...... that means i am not even advanced. very interesting indeed!
Werner, your reputation is clearly that you are an extremely gifted player. Missing 4 of these only shows you were having a bad day, or you simply have a little more problem with these particular kinds of positions than you do over all. In any event, I appreciate your honesty. Most people who tell me how poorly they play then ask me if I would like to play them for money!
Good article, good discussion ! I enjoyed it :-)
