Mary Hickey reports on the 32nd Chicago Open Backgammon Tournament held in Chicago, Illinois on May 25 through May 28, 2012.
Rory Pascar is one of the ABT's most creative directors, and he always comes up with something new for the Chicago Open. Aside from the innovative World Tournament of Champions Invitational (see other report here at GV) that preceded it, this year Rory's Chicago Open included an Unlucky Dice Last Chance event for those knocked out of the main event very early. These players also had a smorgasbord of side events to keep them playing all weekend, including Blitz, Seniors, and Doubles events, plus various jackpots and an after-tourney event.
