Hi John! Thank you for accepting to be interviewed by GammonVillage. Please tell us a little about yourself?
You're welcome, Michael.
I'm 50 years old, single, born in Springfield, Illinois, and I live in Valparaiso, Indiana - about an hour from Chicago. My day job is as a sales rep for the local cable television company.
Congratulations on making it to the final at the 2005 World Championship of Backgammon earlier this month in Monte Carlo. Tell us, when, where and how you got into backgammon and why you love this game?
I learned to play while in college at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Then about five or so years later, I was living in South Bend, Indiana and was looking for something or other in the local library and came across a few books on backgammon. And I thought, "I remember this game. I always kind of liked it back in college and here were a few books that teach you the strategy of the game. I think I'll check a couple of these out." So I did (one of them was Backgammon the Modern Game by Terrence Reese which was not a bad book as I recall) and just got hooked on the game
