Not to take anything away from Glaeser and Fogerlund...we expect those two to do well, and often, but it was great to see Larry Leibster make the semis and Tak Maroika win consolation, defeating Kit Woolsey in the finals.

The tournament was extremely well-attended and well-run as usual, and you have to give credit to Bill Davis and his staff for all of the advance work and planning that goes into his events.

To me, the MOST exciting thing about the tournament was the kids event...few tournament recognize the importance of this event...it's not only the future of the game, but it allows entire families to travel to tournaments and participate. This event should be REQUIRED at all ABT events in my opinion (and it should have great prizes and instruction subsidized by the rest of us).

Bill did a nice job on this article. He covered the events much better than I ever did, but then, he was intimate with them all given that he was the director! If you have never attended an American Backgammon Tour event, Bill's Midwest Championships has the biggest emphasis on fun and it contributes to a worthwhile charity. Why not try it next year? Ray and I could use a few more entry fees next time!

Great picture, Mr. Fogerlund. The T-shirt looks familiar ;-)

WOW! the Ray's were on a tear. Big congratulations to both Glaeser and Coolrey. And of course to Bill Davis for continuing to produce & direct the most awesome backgammon events. I could not make this one, but plan to make 2009.

Great article and pictures!
