Tuesday, October 30th: Day One of Tournament
The shake of the dice cups was my first real feeling of home and comfort. There in the Pergola Nova Backgammon playing room, I found solace in the harmonic ear music distributed in this familiar rhythm of dice kissing in cups and checkers caressing in harmony. So many impressions stay with me: the large screen extending from the ceiling displays a board ready for match play, all the staff in suits and the ladies in matching skirt attire with elegant black high heels, players from all over the world, a variety of languages spoken and cups of coffee served half or one-quarter of the way full- which I have yet to wrap my mind around. I sip this aromatic strong coffee all the while stifling my craving for a cup of coffee that is full to the brim. I am so American.

I heard about this documentary on Falafel around the time of the World Champs. Where and how can one view it? 5.

I enjoyed your article, Antoinette. It's good to get a feeling of the "atmosphere" of being there for all of us who unfortunately can't be there. I look forward to more of your reports. Good luck!
