The wooden pieces have magnetic bases to hold onto the board. This allows for play on a boat, on the dock, or anywhere you wish to play but don't want to lose the pieces.

The pieces are full-size, with a 3 1/2 inch king. The board folds up with a storage space inside for the pieces when the game is not in use. The board is kept closed with two metal clasps.
