Arthur T. Benjamin, Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College is known in popular culture as a "Mathemagician". He has done numerous videos and books on the subject using special techniques from the field of "combinatorics" to multiply large numbers by other large numbers and get answers very quickly. The whole thing is a mystery to me, but I was a guest to one of his many performances at "The Magic Castle" in Hollywood, CA. I even was invited to be part of the show, using the calculator on my digital watch to try to get the answer faster than Arthur (Art) could. I didn't succeed, but at least I was faster than his other two volunteers on stage.
