Timing in backgammon refers to whether you can maintain your assets long enough to use them.
Timing may be the most difficult of the important backgammon concepts to express in words. This might be a sign that we don't understand timing as well as we would like, or in order to have a true mastery of backgammon theory. There are other possibilities, such as that timing is an intrinsically complicated subject, so there shouldn't be a simple way to describe it. This column is about a few aspects of timing.
