GammonVillage is proud to introduce our newest feature columnist, Matt Cohn-Geier. Matt learned how to play backgammon in 2006. He trained and studied constantly with the assistance of bot analysis. Within three years he had become a world-class player and decided to play professionally. Matt won 2nd place in the Las Vegas Open 2008, won 1st place in the Super JP in the Las Vegas Open 2009, and has cashed in many other tournaments. He was the 'Backgammon by the Bay' player of the year in 2008.
Whenever you are faced with any checker play or cube decision, your job as a backgammon player is to figure out the best decision.
The easiest way to do that is to answer a simple question. Experts are continually asking themselves this question.
