MONTE CARLO, Monaco - So Monte Carlo has wrapped up its 35th year and crowned another Danish champion. Come finals time I once again found myself in that room off to the side of the main playing room to record
the match. It would be nice if one of these years I was playing instead of recording but having still not won a single match in the main after 2 years, 0-2, I won't get ahead of myself. Last year I watched two Giants of backgammon collide and expected some great backgammon to be played and I wasn't disappointed. This year the finals was to be between two unknowns to me, except for what I had already seen at the tournament itself. Ricardo Malas of Spain and Lars Bentzon of Denmark were to square off in the 25 point marathon.
