Winning the Summer 'Dubrovnik' Backgammon Open

Having come in 2nd in the 2010 Winter Dubrovnik Backgammon Open to Neil Kazaross, I faded quickly in the spring edition of the same tournament. However, tournament director Leonardo Jerkovic aka "Dubrovnik" as he is known at GridGammon is very active in promoting backgammon on the internet so I had another chance in the summer tournament.

This is an extremely difficult tournament to win, not only because of the number of matches you have to win, but because of the competition you have to face. Among the 74 entrants, the field included ten current backgammon "Giants" which included Petko Kostadinov, Michy, Mochy, Falafel, Paul Weaver, Joe Russell, Bob Wachtel, Neil Kazaross, Richard Munitz and myself.
