One of the most important events on any year's tournament calendar is the Nordic Open. By tradition this is held in Denmark over Easter weekend. Large fields and very tough competition are among its attractions. Because Denmark is probably the world's preeminent backgammon power (the qualifier is there because one can't simply discount the USA without putting it to the test) the past two years have seen an event called "Denmark versus the World." Two teams, one with seven Danes, the other, with seven players from anywhere else, compete.
