In my case the answer in the old song was right: "Another day older, and deeper in debt." But for at least one Giant a nice payday lay ahead.
Living in Singapore I don't play in many US tournaments these days. When Rory Pascar called me last winter, to invite me to the Chicago Open, I don't think he really expected a "yes." Nor did I expect to give him one. Three factors made me change my mind. Besides the fact that I was invited to take part in history, the first Giant 32 Invitational, it happened that I had a one-year ticket on Singapore Airlines due to expire in May. I had to come to the States around then anyway, so visiting Chicago became more attractive. Clinching it was the location; Chicagoland is a big place, but Rory happens to live in my hometown, and was holding the event there. (Technically, the hotel is in Rosemont, but Des Plaines is just across the street.)
