The Japanese have the sensible habit of wearing surgical masks whenever they have a cold (or when they worry that you do).
Minakami Tsuyoshi, playing at the Chicago Backgammon Open under the nom de guerre Minak, arrived in Chicago with a cold, but luckily brought along a healthy supply of prophylactic face wear.
He had a very successful tournament, leaving a trail of defeated opponents asking: "Who was that masked man?"
