In this series of articles we shall examine games from various matches held online or from live tournaments. In the second match of this series, we analyse the finals of the 2013 World Backgammon Championship held in Monte Carlo , between Lars Traboldt and Vyacheslav Pryadkin
Lars Trabolt, was the favourite, having won the 2008 world championship and coming second in the 2009 world championship. His opponent was Vyacheslav Pryadkin from the Ukraine. We shall examine every game with the help of Extreme Gammon. If any of the games are short ones, I will delve into a point of theory which may or may not be connected to the exact game. This series of articles is aimed at the intermediate player, but I hope advanced players will also find positions of interest.
Vyacheslav Pryadkin is White and Lars Trabolt is Black. Rather than confusing people by referring to their names each time, I will refer to the colour of the checkers when commenting on the moves.
25 point match, Score is Vyacheslav Pryadkin: 0, Lars Trabolt: 1
Black to play 21: 13/11 6/5
