If you have been following this match from the beginning, or if you saw only last month's installment, you know this is a match Jerry Grandell and I played in the semis of the US Open in 1998, and that when we left off I led 14-7 to 23.

As we began Game 11, I opened with 43: 24/20, 13/10, and he pointed on me with 31.

I made a fair-sized error by playing 42: Bar/23, 13/9. It is 6% better to enter on the 21pt, and safety my outfield blot.

He hit with 63, and I entered with 61, reaching this position.

Jerry hit on his deuce and ace, breaking his 8pt. That was a blunder. The best play is to hit with 13/7*, then lift the blot 7/6. I entered with 42, and he doubled. It's a sound double, but an easy take. His next cast was 66, continuing the blitz. I anchored on the 21pt, but in the meanwhile he had picked up my blot on the 9pt. By the time I had all of my men in he was well on his way to winning a gammon. It was now 14-11.
